A Fresh Start

It has been a long time in the works, but we are excited to announce that JMSACL has found a new home as part of the Stanford University Press nonprofit publishing program.

The journal continues to be owned by MSACL, and will continue to operate under a Platinum Open Access model, meaning there will be no required APCs or Subscription/Access fees to publish or read.

Additionally, since MSACL owns the journal, the Impact Factor, CiteScore and indexing database relationships all remain with JMSACL.

Moving JMSACL from a commercial to an academic publisher represents a major advance in our commitment to scientific communication. Through our partnership with Stanford University Press, we reaffirm our dedication to accessibility, equity, and impact, and guarantee that high‑quality research is disseminated responsibly and without barriers.

Interested in Contributing as a Reviewer?

One of the most difficult aspects of journal publishing is getting reviewers to participate and return reviews in a timely manner. The more reviewer candidates in the pool, the easier it is for the Editorial staff to move papers through the system and ensure that manuscripts are comprehensively vetted.

Aims and Scope

The Journal of Mass Spectrometry and Advances in the Clinical Lab (JMSACL) is an open access journal that publishes peer-reviewed articles addressing mass spectrometry and OTHER advances in Laboratory Medicine and Pathology with a focus on development of diagnostic and related applications, including data science, to improve patient outcomes and reduce healthcare costs. Submissions are NOT restricted to mass spectrometry as an analysis technique.

Beyond communication of the application of technologies in the routine clinical diagnostic setting, by publishing critically validated analytical protocols, the journal also addresses the translation of experimental techniques and analytical research into patient care, and the use of these technologies in clinical research and routine patient management. The scope of the journal is not restricted to any particular technology, but covers the entire range of technologies and advancements that are expected to impact the clinical lab.

The journal encourages submissions that have a clear path to patient care, including basic and translational research, and animal studies.
